Citat av den underbara sorten

Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through your fingers. So much time you can waste it.
But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.

Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver

Imagine 4 years.
Four years, two suicides, one death, one rape, two pregnancies (one abortion), three overdoses, countless drunken antics, pantsings, spilled food, theft, fights, broken limbs, turf wars–every day, a turf war–six months until graduation and no one gets a medal when they get out. But everything you do here counts.

High school.

Cracked up to be - Courtney Summers

No matter where you go or what you do to distract yourself, reality catches up with you eventually.

The DUFF - Kody Keplinger

So I wonder if true love is more subtle. If it sneaks up or stands there next to you, and you don't recognize that it's true love until you turn and look at this thing that's been right there with you all along, and you realize that you never want to be without it.

A Match Made in High School - Kristin Walker

“Tomorrow will be better.”
“But what if it’s not?” I asked.
“Then you say it again tomorrow. Because it might be. You never know, right? At some point, tomorrow will be better.”

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour - Morgan Matson

"Hard-core doesn't even begin to describe you"

Några citat så här på onsdagskvällen...

No one’s perfect,” I whisper. ”It doesn’t work that way. One bad thing goes away, and another bad thing replaces it.Divergent av Veronica Roth.

He raises my chin. His eyes are endless. His scar is glorious. His hair is sunshine.
His head… is heaven.
“So you still think I’m hard-core?” I ask, my voice shaking.
Sean leans in and brushes his lips against mine. There’s the taste of peppermint I’ve been waiting for. I close my eyes and take him in. It’s not unicorns or dandelions. It’s better. So much better.
“No way,” he says, his voice low. “Hard-core doesn’t even begin to describe you." Sean Griswold's Head av Lindsey Leavitt.

Anyway, that’s enough of an introduction. If you’re ready, let’s begin. If this were a made-up story, it would begin at night, with a storm blowing and owls hooting and rattling noises under the bed. But this is a real story, so I have to begin where it really started.
It started in a toilet. A Living Nightmare av Darren Shan.

'You're distracting,' I said truthfully.
'I won't be. I promise,' Noah said. 'I'll get some crayons and draw quietly. Alone. In a corner.'
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer av Michelle Hodkin.

“It is a condition of monsters that they do not perceive themselves as such. The dragon, you know, hunkered in the village devouring maidens, heard the townsfolk cry 'Monster!' and looked behind him.” Daughter of Smoke and Bone av Laini Taylor.

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well. Daughter of Smoke and Bone av Laini Taylor.

Imagine four years.
Four years, two suicides, one death, one rape, two pregnancies (one abortion), three overdoses, countless drunken antics, pantsings, spilled food, theft, fights, broken limbs, turf wars--every day, a turf war--six months until graduation and no one gets a medal when they get out. But everything you do here counts.
High school. Cracked up to be av Courtney Summers.

I am Josephine Darly, and I intend to live forever. Blood Magic av Tessa Gratton.

Imagine this:
You're in your favorite bookstore, scanning the shelves. You get to the section where a favorite author's books reside, and there, nestled in comfortably between the incredibly familiar spines, sits a red notebook. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares av Rachel Cohn & David Levithan.

It has been sixty-four years since the president and the Consortium identified love as a disease, and forty-three since the scientists perfected a cure. Delirium av Lauren Oliver.

There is one mirror in my house. Divergent av Veronica Roth.

Chauncey was with a farmer's daughter on the grassy banks of the Loire River when the storm rolled in, and having let his gelding wander in the meadow, was left to his own two feet to carry him back to the château.

The early summer sky was the color of cat vomit.
Uglies av Scott Westerfeld.

It is my first morning of high school. I have seven new notebooks, a skirt I hate, and a stomachache.
Speak av Laurie Halse Anderson.

Ten years ago, on my sixth birthday, my father disappeared.
The Iron King av Julie Kagawa.

They say that just before you die your whole life flashes before your eyes, but that's not how it happened for me. Before I Fall av Lauren Oliver.

Many times
when I read a book,
I want to savor
each word,
each phrase,
each page,
loving the prose
so much,
I don't want it
to end.

Other times
the story pulls me in,
and I can hardly
read fast enough,
the details flying by,
some of them lost
because all that matters
is making sure
the character
is all right
when it's over.

The Day Before av Lisa Schroeder, sidan 114.

My knees give out and the floor is cool against my cheek. Something slams into my side and I scream for the first time, a high screech that belongs to someone else and not me, and it slams into my side again, and I can't see anything at all, not even whatever is right in front of my face, the lights out. Someone shouts, "Enough!" and I think too much and nothing at all.

Mama, Mama, help me get home
I'm out in the woods, I am out on my own.
I found me a werewolf, a nasty old mutt
It showed me its teeth and went straight for my gut.

Mama, Mama, help me get home
I'm out in the woods, I am out on my own.
I was stopped by a vampire, a rotting old wreck
It showed me its teeth and went straight for my neck.

Mama, Mama, put me to bed
I won't make it home, I'm already half-dead.
I met an Invalid, and fell for his art
He showed me his smile, and went straight for my heart.

-From "A Child's Walk Home," Nursery Rhymes and Folk Tales
